Head injuries, then and now
After reading the Oct. 30 editorial "Concussion crisis" I thought I would share two stories.
Back in the 1950s I walked into the gym in junior high school. A bigger girl ran into me and my head hit the wall. When I opened my eyes I was lying on the couch in the gym office. When I was able to walk they sent me back to class.
Around the same time my brother was in elementary school. He fell on the playground, hitting his forehead. The principal didn’t even call our parents at work. She just took him home and left him at an empty house. When our mother came home she found him lying on the living room couch with a big lump in the middle of his forehead.
