High school lacrosse and tennis roundup: Mount Greylock boys lax tops PHS

PITTSFIELD — The visiting Mount Greylock boys lacrosse team scored 11 goals in the first quarter to top Pittsfield by a score of 17-6 on Monday.

Reilly Parker had six goals and six assists in the win for the Mounties (10-0, 7-0 Berkshire League) while Pat Storie added six goals and two assists. Owen Politis had a hat trick as well.

For Pittsfield (2-7, 1-5), Markie Perras had three goals and one helper.

DALTON — Wahconah kept Taconic off the board through three quarters on Monday to secure a win at home.

Dart Jaggi scored four goals and dished out one assist for the Warriors (6-3, 5-2 Berkshire League), while Wyatt Schleicher had a hat trick and Jeremy Girard had two goals and two assists.

Sal Amaral scored both goals for Taconic (1-8, 0-5).

"Great team win. We took advantage of some opportunities to get some new looks on offense and defense today," Wahconah coach Zach Sondrini said in an email.

NORTH ADAMS — Visiting East Longmeadow (8-3) defeated McCann Tech (3-8).

Griffin and Michael Trase, Jack O'Brien and Jack O'Connell all had hat tricks for the Spartans. Justin Meczywor and David Rancourt scored the goals for the Hornets.

PITTSFIELD — Pittsfield came up just shy of winning its first game of the season.

Chicopee's Taina Slaughter scored with 9:30 left in the second half to break a tie, as the Generals dropped a hard-fought game.

Nadia Miller had a big day in goal for Chicopee, making 16 saves, eight of them in each half. Pittsfield goalie Anna Quinto had 13 saves.

The Generals (0-7) trailed 3-2 at halftime. PHS scored the first two goals of the second half as Rachel Tynan and Summer Jadallah made it 4-3. Minnie Vargas scored twice, and then Slaughter scored to make it 6-4.

Pittsfield's Gabby Harding cut the lead to one, but the Generals could not get the tying tally.

CHESHIRE — In a cross-border battle, Hoosick Falls edged out a narrow win over Hoosac (4-3) on Monday.

The game was tied 3-3 at halftime.

Alie Mendel and Aubrey Rumbolt each scored two goals for Hoosac in the loss, while Abi Disbrow made four saves.

Lenox and Mount Greylock split


LENOX — It was a split on the courts at the Lenox Community Center. The Greylock boys scored a 5-0 win over Lenox, while the Millionaires earned a 4-1 win over the Greylock girls.

The Greylock boys (5-0, 5-0 Berkshire League) won all five matches in straight sets. The deciding point came at No. 3 singles, as Josh Narey scored a 6-2, 6-3 win over Ari Yantovsky of Lenox (0-5, 0-5).

The Lenox girls (3-2, 3-2) swept the doubles matches and took the lower two singles matches to top the Mounties (2-4, 2-3).

Lee sweeps Mount Everett

SHEFFIELD — For the boys, a win by first singles player Ibz Zia and a doubles sweep was enough for Lee to pull out a 3-2 win.

Dom Bartini and Lukas Loehr won at first doubles for the Wildcats (3-2, 3-2 Berkshire League) while Chris Petrescu and David Kilmer won at second doubles.

For Mount Everett (0-4, 0-4), Ethan Benoit and Cole Duval won at second and third singles, respectively.

On the girls side, Suriana Lee, Ava Martin and Anna Wang swept the singles for Lee en route to a 4-1 victory over Everett.

Maddie DeSantis and Angelique Nejaime won first doubles for the Wildcats (6-0, 5-0) while Ashley Kerzner and Shelby Tinker won second doubles for the Eagles (0-4, 0-4).
