High school roundup: Hoosac Valley boys soccer finishes season with win

CHESHIRE >> Steve Crouch scored twice for Hoosac Valley in its win over St. Joseph.

Colin Rousseau and Jake Halverson also scored for the Hurricanes (5-8-1, 4-3-1 Berkshire South).

Jack Perenick registered eight saves for St. Joseph (0-13, 0-7).

PITTSFIELD >> After neither team broke through in the first hour, Pittsfield scored four times in the final 20 minutes to defeat Taconic.

Grady Pedersen, Evan Dempsey, Jackson Rich and Vinny Coppola scored for the Generals (8-3-6).

"We had possession for most the game, and got a lot of looks," PHS coach Andrew Antil wrote in an email. "Cody [Latimer] was outstanding and turned away everything we threw at him for the first hour."

Goalie Latimer had 23 saves for the Braves (4-12-1).

Elizabeth Knight tied it for the host before halftime and Jill Murphy won it just over two minutes into the second half.

Hayley Tobin had 10 saves for the Generals (4-10-3).

DALTON >> Emma Parkington had three aces, three kills and three digs, but Wahconah couldn't overcome Amherst. The scores were 25-13, 25-13, 25-16.

Kristin Mange added eight digs for the Warriors (11-8) while Fran Gigliotti contributed four assists, two digs and an ace.

For Amherst, Claire Basler-Chang recorded 12 digs, eight aces and five kills while Meg Rice registered 10 kills four digs and two aces. Also for the Hurricanes, Periya Yath had 13 digs and four aces.
