High school roundup: McCann Tech boys lacrosse wins first game in program history

Posted

NORTH ADAMS — First-year programs suffer growing pains in high school sports. Very few suffered like the McCann Tech boys' lacrosse team. But that suffering is over.

The Hornets (1-11) earned their first victory of the season, beating St. Mary's 12-8 on Monday afternoon. Mike Moreno led the way with four goals and an assist for the Hornets.

"Ecstatic, we're ecstatic," McCann coach Paul Lange said. "It's definitely a monkey off our backs."

The Hornets led 3-2 after one quarter and were ahead after every quarter.

Nick Lincoln chipped in with three goals and an assist, while Nico Romano had three goals and Justin Meczywor had three assists to go with a goal.

"It was the culmination of a lot of hard work," said Lange. "Today, for the most part, we controlled the tempo."
