High school roundup: Pittsfield girls defeat Lenox

Posted

LENOX — Lenox outscored Pittsfield in the second half of Tuesday night's girls basketball game. But the hole the Millionaires had found themselves in at halftime proved to be too much to climb out of.

Peyton Steinman and Bella Aitken combined to score 34 points as Pittsfield scored a 58-39 win over the Millionaires (2-10).

It was 36-13 at halftime, and while Lenox outscored Pittsfield 25-22 in the second half, the Generals came home with the win.

"I challenged them [at halftime] to play harder in the second half. We played toe-to-toe with them," said Lenox coach Mike Nykorchuk. "When you have a young team, I think that's important."

Steinman had a game-high 18 points, while Aitken and Lenox's Alice Najimy had 16 each. Allie Hunt chipped in with 10 for Pittsfield

Steinman now has 1,020 points, and she passed Shannon Hoosick of Wahconah, who had 1,010. Next on the list is Drury's Mary Gaudreau, who scored 1,071 points.
