PITTSFIELD — Pittsfield's Emily Koldys threw a five-hit shutout, leading the Generals to a 5-0 win over Mount Greylock. Koldys was in complete control in the circle. She did not walk a batter and struck out seven. The Generals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, and pulled away with a three-run fourth. Brittney Perkett had three hits. Erin Murphy had two RBI.

MONTAGUE >> Turners Falls used two big innings to defeat Mount Everett. The Indians scored five times in the first inning and four times in the third inning, providing more than enough support for starter Mackenzie Phillips. Phillips struck out 16 Eagles and walked only one. Gwendolyn Carpenter and Marion Devoti had the only hits for Everett.

CHESHIRE >> Hoosac Valley's Kali Puppolo allowed only three hits, leading the Hurricanes to a big win over Lee. Puppolo struck out eight, walked two and was helped by strong defense behind her. The 'Canes committed only one error, while Lee committed five, leading to eight unearned runs. Kelsey Wohrle led Hoosac with two RBI.

NORTH ADAMS >> Drury used its offense to withstand a late rally from Palmer, as the Blue Devils held on for a close win.

After scoring once in the first inning, Drury expanded its lead with a three-run second inning. Zach Yeaton scored after reaching base with a single. Hayden Bird added a two-run single as well. Palmer chipped away at its deficit, getting within one run after five innings. But the host iced the game in the sixth, as Bird drove in two more with a single and Logan Rumbolt added an RBI single.

Ryan Dubie got the win on the mound. He went six innings and strike out four.

Girls Lacrosse

HOOSAC VALLEY 11, LEE 10

CHESHIRE >> Aubrey Rumbolt scored with three seconds remaining to lead Hoosac Valley to a one-goal victory over Lee.

Rumbolt and Alie Mendel each scored four times for the Hurricanes (4-2, 3-2 Berkshire League) while Claudia Bresett added a hat trick. Abi Disbrow recorded 11 saves for Hoosac.

For Lee (2-3, 1-3), Meryl Phair scored five goals while Mikayla DeSantis contributed a hat trick. Taryn Paul registered eight saves for the Wildcats.

Hoosac trailed 10-6 with five minutes remaining and scored five-straight goals to win.

PITTSFIELD >> The Pittsfield boys lacrosse team moved back to .500 with a win over Monument Mountain on Wednesday.

Kevin Quinto led the Generals (3-3, 2-2 Berkshire League) with seven goals and four assists. Josh Kozlowski, Sean Baruch, De'Shane Johnson and Ryan Jacoby all had two goals in the win.

For Monument Mountain (5-3, 2-2), Joe LaBrasca had three goals in the loss.

"The kids came out ready to play, and it turned out to be a good day," Pittsfield coach Scott Aitken said.

MONSON >> McCann Tech held its first lead of the season, going into halftime up 4-2 against Monson. From there, the inexperience of the Hornets gave way in a loss.

After playing out a 1-1 first quarter, the Hornets took a step forward as a team by taking a lead into the break.

"We played our best half of the season," McCann coach Paul Lange said. "We are getting better every game, and it felt great at halftime.

"We are a young team, we have to learn how to win. The first part of learning how to win is getting leads for once. Now, we just have to work on maintaining that lead."

The Hornets fall to 0-6 with the loss.

LEE SWEEPS PITTSFIELD

PITTSFIELD >> The Lee boys tennis team defeated Pittsfield 3-2, and the Lee girls defeated Pittsfield 4-1.

On the boys side, Lee's strong doubles play led it to victory. Pittsfield took two points and No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Jed Devarennes earned Lee's lone singles win, beating James Korenman 6-0, 6-0. The deciding match came at No. 1 doubles as Sam Polastri and Julian Nejaime pulled out a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 win.

For the girls, Pittsfield's Anna Hamel won a back-and-forth match at No. 1 singles, but Lee won the remaining matches. Sarah Winston and Maddie DeSantis won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Anna Wang and Kate Delsignor also won in straight sets at No. 1 singles.

The Greylock boys won all five matches in straight sets. Jacob Fink had to battle against Jonas Malicky at No. 2 singles, but he pulled out a 6-2, 7-5 win.

The Everett girls also won all its matches in straight sets. Kate Pfister earned the lone Greylock win at No. 3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Julia Grober settled down after a close first set to win 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

The Spartan boys won in straight sets, but the Millionaires made them earn every match. Rafael Guttierez needed a tiebreaker to beat Ari Yantovsky 7-5, 7-6(7-2). Jack White and Kevin Costello also had a close match at No. 1 singles, winning 6-2, 7-5.

Monument's doubles teams helped the girls defeat Lenox. Spartans' coach Jeff Caligari said his young duo at No. 2 doubles of Gabbi DeFelice and Olivia Jaffe played well, winning 6-0, 6-1.
