High school roundup: Wahconah girls complete 4-3 comeback win over Hoosac

Posted

ADAMS — The Wahconah girls soccer team stormed back from a three-goal deficit to defeat Hoosac Valley 4-3 at Renfrew Park on Monday.

Trailing 3-0, Arden McKnight got one back for Wahconah (6-4, 2-1 Berkshire North) in the 53rd minute. Amelia Dougherty then scored twice for the Warriors — in the 56th and 58th minutes — to tie the game.

Emmy Cote, who assisted McKnight's goal, gave Wahconah its first lead in the 64th minute. It was the Warriors' fourth goal in an 11-minute span.

"We played a solid 52 minutes of soccer," Hoosac Valley coach Kathy Budaj wrote in an email. "Unfortunately, if you don't play 80, it is hard to win games."

McKnight finished with two assists to go along with her goal. For Hoosac (5-3-1, 2-2), Ellie Field scored twice and Olivia Bresett connected on a penalty kick.
