High school soccer roundup: Hoosac Valley girls mount 4-3 comeback victory
CHESHIRE — The Hoosac Valley girls soccer team staged a furious comeback in the second half to escape with a 4-3 victory over Amherst.
Hoosac (2-1) trailed 3-0 at halftime, but four goals in the second half, including Olivia Bresett's game-winner in the 78th minute, led Berkshire County's Hurricanes to the win.
"We just weren't shooting the ball," Hoosac coach Kathy Budaj said of the first half. "We were trying to find the next best pass, we didn't take any quality shots.
"We were really dominating and didn't have anything on the board. I told them at halftime to take it one by one and execute and get the game going, and they did."
Ellie Field scored five minutes into the second half to pull Hoosac within 3-1, then Bresett scored her first goal on a 63rd-minute penalty kick.
Carah Cote tied the game for Hoosac with six minutes remaining before Bresett's winner. Madison Vigna assisted on the final two Hoosac goals.

PITTSFIELD >> Under the lights at Berkshire Community College, Monument's Crista Cardillo's 40-yard shot with 19 minutes left in the contest broke a tie and gave visiting Monument (3-0-1, 3-0 Berkshire North) a win over Pittsfield (2-3, 0-1).
Gabi DeFelice passed the ball to Cardillo, whose shot grazed the crossbar and dropped in behind PHS goalkeeper Bella Arace.
"We both had good [scoring] opportunities," Pittsfield coach Andy Waluszko said. "It was well-played by both teams."
Emily Rada registered the shutout with 11 saves.

LENOX 1, MOUNT GREYLOCK 0
WILLIAMSTOWN >> The Lenox girls kept their perfect season going Monday afternoon, but it didn't come easy.
Tova Brown's goal in the 57th minute broke a scoreless tie as the unbeaten Millionaires (6-0) scored a one-goal win at Mount Greylock (1-5).
"We had our opportunities," said Greylock coach Tom Ostheimer. "We just have to find the back of the net."
In the five Greylock losses, three have been by shutout.
Lenox goalkeeper Shannon Meisberger had 13 saves.

Retzel gave Lee (2-3) the lead in the first half and Shannon Finnegan doubled the advantage.
After a Berlin goal by Jewel Pietrzak, DeSantis put the game away for the Wildcats.
"The girls settled in nicely today using great passing to move the ball up the field," Lee coach Lauren Finnegan wrote in an email. "The girls saw the field well today. We moved some players around to different positions a few games ago and the changes are working well. (Goalie) Brianna Hawley played amazingly well today."

PITTSFIELD >> Evan Norcross scored twice and added an assist for Hoosac Valley in its win over St. Joseph.
Steve Crouch, Josh Dix, Colin Rousseau, Fidel Acroman and Keegan McGrath also scored for the Hurricanes (2-1-1, 2-1-1 Berkshire South).
The Crusaders are 0-3, 0-3.
