MOUNT EVERETT 2, DRURY 0

SHEFFIELD >> Gwendolyn Carpenter led Mount Everett to victory over Drury. The win qualifies the Eagles for the Western Mass tournament.

Carpenter scored both goals for Everett (9-1, 4-1 Berkshire South). She started the scoring in the first half off a feed from Marion Devoti. In the second half, Carpenter gathered a long pass from Madeline VonRuden, dribbled around four defenders and scored.

Carpenter has four goals in her last two games.

"Against a league team that knows us well, Gwendolyn was marked up well," Everett coach Jess Murtagh said. "Aubrey Rumbolt shut her down for a lot of the game. They can put two to three people on her and she'll find a way to distribute or score."

Drury is 2-10, 0-5.

HOOSAC VALLEY 2, PITTSFIELD 0

CHESHIRE >> Second-half adjustments led Hoosac Valley to a shutout victory over Pittsfield.

Hoosac coach Kathy Budaj said her players started slowly and did not create chances in transition. In the second half, the 'Canes (7-3-1, 3-2 Berkshire North) found their offense after a nice defensive stop. Pittsfield (2-5-2, 0-3-2) looked as if it had a goal, but Hoosac's Jess Halverson cleared the ball just before it crossed the goal line, setting up a transition chance which led to a Ellie Field goal. Olivia Bresett added an insurance goal in the 74th minute.

"In the first half we seemed slow," Budaj said. "We weren't winning 50/50 ball and played a defensive first game with no transition game. [In the second half] we moved some people and it gave us the opportunity to move the ball forward."
