High school soccer roundup: Monument Mountain girls top Lenox
GREAT BARRINGTON — It was a battle of unbeatens taking the pitch at Monument Mountain Wednesday afternoon. When the sun set, Monument was the only unbeaten girls soccer team still standing in Berkshire County.
Zufan Bazzano's second-half goal on a penalty kick broke a scoreless tie and gave the Spartans (5-0-2) a 1-0 win over previously undefeated Lenox (7-1-1). Bazzano scored in the 47th minute
"We moved the ball well, especially in the second half," Monument coach Jess Platt wrote in an email. "[It was a] physical and well fought game for both sides."
Emily Rada had the clean sheet in net for Monument.

WAHCONAH 6, TACONIC 0
PITTSFIELD >> Wahconah (4-4-0) reached the .500 mark with a win over Taconic.
Amelia Dougherty scored an unassisted goal in the first minute of the game, and the Warriors never surrendered the lead. Dougherty had two goals and an assist while Emmy Cote had a goal and two assist for Wahconah.
Gianna Moncecchi got the shutout in goal.

SHEFFIELD >> Mount Everett (8-2) now needs one more win to reach the Western Massachusetts Division tournament for the third consecutive year.
St. Mary's Jack Lamirande tied the game in the 58th minute, and it wasn't until the final six minutes when Cavan Brady scored his second goal of the game. Ellis Waldman took the free kick, Brady beat St. Mary's goalkeeper Jacob Butler to the ball, and flicked the ball into the net.
"We had a lot of chances in the first half and didn't convert," Everett coach Josh King said. "Games like this are tough. If you don't put them away early, they gain more confidence."

SPRINGFIELD >> Visiting Taconic (2-6-1) came back from a 2-0 deficit to take the lead with six minutes remaining in the game. But host Commerce (4-2-1) scored the tying goal off a corner kick in the 77th minute to deadlock the game.
Nick Donahue scored twice for Taconic.

HOOSICK, N.Y. >> Sally Nason had a goal and five assists to lead Miss Hall's to a win at Hoosac School.
Grace Guachione had a hat trick for Miss Hall's, who led 4-0 at halftime.
