Hinsdale: Association solicits donations to maintain Plunkett Beach

Posted

The Hinsdale Lions Club organized the Hinsdale Recreation Association more than 50 years ago to open and maintain the Plunkett Lake Beach for the public. The beach has been kept open, free of charge, for all these years.

The Lions Club/Rec Association receive no tax dollars from the residents of Hinsdale or any town or state reimbursements. The cost to run and maintain the beach is approximately $3,000 to $3,500 per year. In the coming months, the Association anticipates costs associated with permitting for the replacement of sand at the beach as well as annual maintenance.

The Recreation Association will be sending letters out to Hinsdale residents asking for donations that will allow the beach to remain free of charge and open to the public. Families who enjoy this public beach are asked to consider sending in a donation. Any amount would be appreciated.

Mail checks payable to the Hinsdale Recreation Association, P.O. Box 1120, Hinsdale, MA 01235.
