Hinsdale: ‘Down Memory Lane’ to celebrate town history

Monday October 1, 2012

Hinsdale Dayz is sponsoring "Down Memory Lane," an event showcasing Hinsdale’s history, from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7.

Stroll the streets of the town and visit the Historical Room at Town Hall, renovations at the Hinsdale Public Library, the War Memorial, Old Town Hall for a talk by the town historian Leonard Swift, and First Congregational Church where Logan Brooks will give its history.

Gazebo Park is dressed for fall and the Kittredge Elementary School parking lot will showcase classic cars. The firehouse showcases historical pictures, town reports, a classic train, and square dancing.

Children’s events from 3 to 4:30 p.m. include pony rides, an Old Time Penny Fair, and a tug of war behind the firehouse. Also at the firehouse, Big Band Golden Oldies Music by Champagne Jam will begin at 5 p.m.

Events are free. Food and drink will be available. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Hinsdale-Peru Cultural Council.
