Holiday gifts for local veterans

On December 8, 20 members of the Pittsfield’s Veterans Coalition, consisting of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 65, Marine Corps League, VFW Post 448, American Legion Post 68, DAV Chapter 15, went around to 130 Veterans of World War II, Korea, Vietnam and so on who are residing in local nursing homes and assisted living places in Pittsfield. Each Veteran (servicemen and servicewomen) received a fleece blanket of various colors, which had "U.S. Veteran" silk-screened on each one. The veteran was individually address, honored by a thank you, recognizing them with an individual salute for their service, and wished them a happy holiday season.

It was very touching for us, because these fine men and women gave so much to our country. Some were in wheelchairs and still wanted to stand up and return our salute!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Holidays to all of their family.
