Holyoke event explores effects of violence on youth


HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Hampden District Attorney Mark Mastroianni is sponsoring a conference to explore the effects of violence on youth.

Mastroianni, with Baystate Medical Continuing Education, will sponsor the 25th annual Victim Rights Conference Thursday at the Baystate Education Center in Holyoke.

"Toxic Stress, Media Saturation and Violence: Connections, Implications and Strategies," will include keynote speeches by: Gail Dines, a professor of Sociology and Women's Studies at Wheelock College; Dr. Heather Forkey, of the UMass Child Protection Program in Worcester; and Samantha Paradise, a filmmaker.
