Honor for officer and for police

Monday September 10, 2012

I am writing with regard to my brother Kipp who is a Pittsfield police officer and re cently was awarded the Medal of Honor (Eagle, August 31.)

Anyone who knows my brother knows that he is a caring, selfless, kind and compassionate individual who goes about his work in a quiet and humble way. Kipp loves working with people and epitomizes what it means to protect and serve regardless if these ideals clash with his own personal safety. Knowing him as I do, it does not surprise me that he acted quickly and without concern for the danger in front of him.

I want to thank the police officers, the captain and chief for nominating Kipp for this prestigious award. Too often, the police are in the papers for a negative reason. This occasion is a cause to stop and reflect on the dangerous and difficult work that the Pittsfield police perform on a daily basis. This award is a celebration for all of those officers who help us to rest easier, knowing that our families are safe.

Kudos to my little brother and the Pittsfield police for all that you do.
