Hoosac Valley's Jameson Coughlan named to all-state team

The season may be over, but awards are coming in for several Berkshire County high school basketball players.

Hoosac Valley's Jameson Coughlan was named to the 2015 Boys Basketball All-State Team by Masshoops.net. The state and sectional teams were open to only high school seniors.

According to a release from the site, the team is an "attempt to highlight those seniors whose lengthy career accomplishments have been particularly noteworthy."

Coughlan, who reached 1,000 points during a game against Wahconah in January, wrapped up his high school career with a pair of Western Massachusetts championships.

Coughlan was one of three Western Mass. players on the 12-player boys team. He was joined by Tyonne Malone of Putnam and Devonte McCall of Amherst.

Coughlan and Taconic's Treyvon Ringgold were named to the West Regional All-State team.

While no Berkshire County player earned a spot on the Girls All-State team, Hoosac's Madi Ryan was named to the West Regional All-Star team.

In fact, no Western Mass. senior girl made the state team.

Two of the All-State selections will become familiar to local college basketball fans.

Emily Chang of Newton South will be playing at Williams for coach Pat Manning next winter. Ten of the 12 girls on the All-State team are going to play at Division I schools. Eric Sellew of Concord-Carlisle, the Gatorade player of the year in Massachusetts, will be playing at Amherst College.
