Howard Fishman to perform roots music at Vermont Arts Exchange
BENNINGTON -- Celebrating the tenth season of the Basement Music Series, the Vermont Arts Exchange will welcome Howard Fishman back to the stage at 8 p.m. Friday, March 28 at the Sage Street Mill. Critically-acclaimed singer, guitarist, composer and bandleader, Fishman ha made a name for exuberant, spontaneous and unvarnished music.
Fishman began his musical career on the streets of New Orleans and in the subways of Brooklyn New York in the late 90s. Although primarily known as a songwriter, Fishman began his career immersed in early jazz, folk, blues, and country music, creating a bedrock of knowledge of American roots. His most recent recording, "Uncollected Stories," will be released this Spring.
Also returning to the stage that evening, violinist Mazz Swift (familiar to Basement Music Series fans as one half of BrazzTree) will join two newcomers, Kirk Knuffke on cornet and Jeff Picker on upright bass.
