Hubbard Hall to offer Mozart viola quintets
Berkshires Week and The Shires of Vermont
CAMBRIDGE, N.Y. -- On Sunday, March 16 at 4 p.m., Hubbard Hall will present a Mu sic from Salem Listening Club about Mozart’s Viola quintets led by artistic director Lila Brown, at Hubbard Hall’s Freight Depot at 25 East Main St.
With live demonstration and recordings, Brown will act as guide for five masterworks Mo zart wrote for string quintet with two violas, from the tragic Quin tet in G minor to the golden concertante-style C major and the virtuosic Quintet in E flat.
A discussion of these radiant works and a look at harmony in the classical era will follow.
