"Fizz, Bang, Read!," the summer reading program at the Huntington Public Library, begins Wednesday, July 9.

For those under 13, a log book and stickers will help keep track of reading time. When the log is completed entrants will receive a mad scientist’s beaker full of prizes, including a certificate for a free ice cream cone compliments of Gino’s.

Readers age 13 to 113 will earn tickets for reading any book or magazine of their choice, giving them a chance to win raffle prizes including certificates for Williamsburg General Store, Pizzeria Uno, Amelia Park, and many more to be drawn at a party on Saturday, Aug. 23.

As part of the program, Ed the Wizard will be performing at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17.

A mad science kit full of prizes and weekly games and take-home activities will be available during regular library hours: Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.; Thursday and Friday from 2-8 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
