In a switch, OB/GYN, Family Medicine practices at NARH will stay put

NORTH ADAMS -- In a reversal, North Adams Regional Hospital has announced on its Facebook Page that the Northern Berkshire OB/GYN and Northern Berkshire Family Medicine practices will remain in their current locations.
The notice comes only two days after a notice was posted that both would be moving to new quarters. On Wednesday, a posting on the hospital's website said the OB/GYN would move to Adams and Family Medicine would move to the Ambulatory Care Building adjacent to the hospital.
But according to the updated notice on Friday, the OB/GYN will remain on the third floor of the NARH building, while the Family Medicine will remain at 802 State Road. The OB/GYN can be reached at (413) 664-4343, and Family Medicine can be reached (413) 664-4088, according to the notice.
Both medical practices, which formerly associated with Northern Berkshire Healthcare, were set to close last Friday until Berkshire Health Services, parent company of Berkshire Medical Center, announced it would step in and provide administrative support to both practices to allow them to keep operating.
Following Wednesday's announcement that the offices would be moving, BHS spokesman Michael Leary emphasized that a "final decision" had not been reached.
He cited ongoing details of the pending bankruptcy filing by NBH, the parent company of North Adams Regional Hospital.
The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Thursday, and negotiations have been ongoing over an agreement to have BMC take over parts of the hospital, including the establishment of a satellite emergency care center.
