Pittsfield: Barrett promoted to new BCC role
Christina Barrett has been promoted to director of marketing and student recruitment at Berkshire Community College, the school has announced.
In her new role, Barrett will oversee the operations of BCC’s admissions office along with public relations and marketing, and will be responsible for college’s long-term strategic outreach and recruitment strategy.
Barrett joined BCC in 2010 after serving as the director of marketing and communications for the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.
A native of Marlborough, Barrett holds a bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Pittsfield: Foundation to award disability grants
The Berkshire Life Charitable Foundation is currently accepting applications from programs, services and special initiatives that address the many needs that arise when individuals who reside in Berkshire County have a physical or developmental disability.
Since its inception in 2001, the foundation has awarded over 250 grants containing a cumulative financial contribution to the community of $1.2 million. In its most recent funding cycle, the foundation awarded 24 grants totaling $101,192 in support of a wide variety of initiatives in the Berkshires.
The deadline for grant requests is March 29, 2013. Applicants most be nonprofit agencies with 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status that serve Berkshire County residents with disabilities.

Pittsfield: Spa sites raise $6K for breast cancer
The Clip Shop Salon & Day Spa raised a total of $6,145 for breast cancer at fundraisers that were held at the shop’s three locations in Pittsfield, Williamstown and Bennington, Vt.
The Pittsfield shop raised $2,835 for the Patient Care Fund at the Women’s Imaging Center; the Williamstown shop $1,880 for the Reach for Breast Health Fund; and the Bennington shop $1,430 for the Patient Resource Fund at Vermont Hospital.
