Sheffield: Housing exec tapped for program

Elton Ogden of Berkshire Housing Development Corporation in Pittsfield is one of two executive directors of nonprofit organizations that the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation has sponsored for the Harvard Business School’s Nonprofit Management Program.

He will attend Harvard Business School from July 15-21 for a week-long intensive training program: Strategic Perspec tives in Nonprofit Management. This program is designed to strengthen the capacity of nonprofit directors to lead their organizations effectively.

The other executive director being sponsored by the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation is Barbara Henry of Special Needs Program Inc. in Ghent, N.Y.

Pittsfield: Colt agents expand their credentials

John Quinto of the Colt Insurance Agency has achieved his Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) designation, the agency has announced. RHU is the premier credential in the health insurance market.

Two other Colt employees, operations manager Kim Knights and account executive Carla Prendergast, have achieved their Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designations after completing five programs within three years. The CISR program is for insurance personnel who make customer service a priority.

Knights has been employed for 25 years and Prendergast for 18 years at Colt. Quinto has been employed for 10 years at Colt, where he heads the benefits department.

Pittsfield: Bank awards 18 senior scholarships

Berkshire Bank has selected 18 high school seniors who attend schools in the bank’s coverage area to receive a total of $36,000 in scholarships through its Berkshire Bank Foundation Scholarship Awards Program. Each recipient will receive $2,000.

A total of 93 employee volunteers reviewed more than 170 applications to select the winners. The winners all live in the regions served by Berkshire Bank, including Eastern and Central New York, Western Massachusetts and Southern Vermont.

The six Berkshire County recipients are: Samantha Swartz, Mount Everett High School; Gabrielle Tyer and Katie Bradley, Pittsfield High School; Cheyenne Robair and Karen Chi, Taconic High School; and Taylor VanDyke, Wahconah High School.
