Marian Helper magazine, a quarterly magazine published by the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, earned three awards at the 2012 Catholic Press Associa tion awards at the CPA Convention last month.
Writer Felix Carroll was awarded second place in Best Personality Profile category for his story, "His walk of life," about Dr. Ronald Sobecks, who addresses the spiritual and physical needs
of his cancer patients.
Executive Editor David Came won third place in the category of Best Essay -- among religious order magazines -- for his essay, "My struggles with Parkinson’s
Marian Helper also won an honorable mention for General Excellence -- among religious order magazines. This award recognizes excellence in both design and writing of the magazine.
This marks the second consecutive year that Marian Helper has garnered at least three awards competing against hundreds of other publications across the United States and Canada.
Marian Helper is the flagship publication for the Marian Fathers’ spiritual benefit society, the Association of Marian Helpers here.
It was first published in 1947.
Wedding Tour unit
receives PR award
The Lenox Wedding Tour Committee recently received the 2012 Public Relations Trendsetter Award from the Berkshire Visitors Bureau and 1Berkshire for its work in publicizing last year’s inaugural Lenox Wedding Tour for event planners.
The Berkshire Trendsetter Awards were created to recognize and honor individuals, businesses, and communities who are doing exceptional work in marketing and economic development in the Berkshires.
The tour’s autumn showcase will return for it second year in Lenox from Nov. 12 to 15.
