Great Barrington: Big Y produce manager honored
John Heon, the produce and floral sales manager at the Big Y supermarket in Great Bar ring ton, has been chosen as an honoree in the United Fresh Foundation’s Center for Leadership Excellence 2012 award competition.
Heon is among 25 produce managers representing 20 different supermarket chains, commissaries and independent retailers in the United States and Canada to be honored this year.
Winners are selected by a special team of produce experts and based upon a number of criteria.
Heon has been employed by Big Y for 31 years. He began as a part-time service clerk in the Northampton store in 1981. After a few years as a grocery clerk, he was promoted in 1985 to full-time produce manager at Big Y’s former store on Williams Street in Pittsfield. Since then, he has been produce manager in 10 of Big Y’s supermarkets and was part of the opening team for three World Class Markets.
Lenox: Winstanley adds graphic designers
Josh Jevons and Aldo Gonzalez have joined Winstanley Partners as graphic designers, the company has announced. They will both be working on a variety of design projects for Winstanley’s customer base.
Jevons, of Rensselaer, N.Y., earned a BFA in graphic design from the Rochester Insti tute of Technology in 2011. He compiled numerous accolades during his academic career, including the New York State Scholarship of Excellence Award. Jevons has experience in print layout, logo design, branding concepts and icon design having worked as a freelance designer at Soldier Design in Cambridge, and Applied Visions in Albany, N.Y.
Gonzalez relocated to Williamstown from his native California several years ago. He attended the University of Tubingen and the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, both in Germany. Gonzalez also holds a bachelor’s degree in studio art/graphic design from California State University at Long Beach. He has experience in print layout, visual displays, retail store artwork, and more. He also has worked as a freelance graphic designer for several years, as well as on staff with companies such as Vans Inc. of Seal Beach, Calif.
