Pittsfield: GFCU awards $6.5K in scholarships

The Greylock Federal Credit Union has awarded a total of $6,500 to 13 college-bound high school seniors.

They each received $500 from the Credit Union’s "Treat Everyone Better Than They Expect" scholarship program. The scholarships are presented to one community-minded senior class member from each Berkshire County high school. The scholarships are to be applied toward tuition at state-accredited or nationally accredited two- or four-year colleges or universities.

This year’s recipients include: Gabrielle Harrington, BART Charter School; Cori Ghidotti, Drury High School; Sean Ryan-Kut, Hoosac Valley High School; Katrina Snow, Lee High School; Caroline Wilkerson, Lenox High School; Brian Dougherty, McCann Technical School; and Jennifer Marie Evans, Monument Mountain Regional High School.

Also receiving scholarships were, Natasha MacLeay, Mount Everett High School; Jullia Vlahopoulos, Mount Greylock Regional High School; Courtney McMahon, Pittsfield High School; Michael Goddeau, St. Joseph Central High School; Angela O’Neil, Taconic High School; and Sara Silvernail, Wahconah Regional High School.

Pittsfield: Chamber seeks exhibitors for expo

The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce is seeking exhibitors to participate in the sixth Buy Berkshire Chamber Expo, which will take place June 18 at Hancock Shaker Village. The application deadline is Friday, June 6. The expo begins with a Business-to-Business networking for exhibitors from 4 to 5 p.m. The event is open to the public from 5 to 8 p.m.

Pittsfield: Mortgage grand prize winner named

John F. McCarthy of West Brookfield was named the grand prize winner of Berkshire Bank’s Exciting Rewind Mortgage Contest which took place in conjunction with New England Sports Network.

McCarthy received $12,000 to assist with his mortgage for one year. The announcement was made during the Boston Bruins’ National Hockey League quarterfinal playoff series with the Montreal Canadiens. Berkshire was the official sponsor of Bruins’ coverage on NESN this season. More than 3,000 consumers entered the contest.
