Pittsfield: Chamber to host health care forum

The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce will host a forum on the Affordable Care Act on Friday, June 21 at 1Berkshire's Central Station at 66 Allen St. The hours are 10:30 a.m. until noon.

The forum will be moderated by Holly Taylor of True North Insurance, and Attorney Richard A. Szczebak of Parker Brown McCauley & Sheerin of Foxborough. Several topics surrounding the ACA will be addressed.

Due to anticipated demand and space constraints, the program is limited only to employers who have 50 or more employees, including part-timers. The cost is free for Berkshire Chamber members, and $50 for non-members.

Pittsfield: BMC earns hip and knee certification

Berkshire Medical Center has achieved Joint Commission Disease Specfic Certification for hip and knee replacement following an extensive survey that took place earlier this year.

As a result of the survey, BMC has been recognized as a Center of Excellence for Hip & Knee Replacement demonstrating a commitment to continuously improving the care of hip and knee replacement patients.

BMC is one of only two hospitals in Massachusetts and the only one in western Massachusetts to have earned the Joint Commission Center of Excellence designation for hip and knee replacement procedures.

Berkshires: NBT partners with Goodwill program

NBT Bank has entered into a partnership with Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires that will allow donations of work attire for Goodwill's Suit Yourself program to be accepted at the bank's five county branches.

Donations of new or nearly new work clothes can be dropped off at the NBT offices that are located in Great Barrington, Lee, Lenox, North Adams and Pittsfield. Each donated item should be clean and on a hanger.

Suit Yourself is a Goodwill Industries program that provides free workplace attire to residents of Berkshire County and the surrounding area who are either entering or re-entering the workforce. The program provides individuals with professional clothing at no cost, and also assists them with selecting an outfit that is suitable for a job interview.
