Pittsfield: 10 seniors land Hillcrest scholarships

Hillcrest Educational Centers has awarded $300 scholarships to 10 area high school seniors.

The recipients are students of local high schools in the communities where Hillcrest has programs, which include Great Barrington, Lenox and Pittsfield. Hillcrest has been awarding these scholarships since 2004.

The students were asked to complete a competitive essay with an education and health care focus and were selected on the basis of academic excellence, community involvement, extracurricular school activities and character.

This year's scholarship recipients include Jonathan Bianchi and Chanler Hospot of St. Joseph's Central High School; Lauren McMahon, Sarah Rayner and Victoria Reese of Pittsfield High School; Ashley Strack, Jennifer Witkowski and Michelle White of Taconic High School; Emily Diaz of Lenox Memorial High School; and Lia P. Douillet of Monument Mountain Regional High School.

Williamstown: CEO of financial firm is honored

Rob Abel, the president and CEO of True North Financial Services, has been named to the Commonwealth's President's Club in recognition of being selected as a top financial adviser by Commonwealth Financial Network.

This distinction recognizes successful financial advisers based on a ranking of annual production among Commonwealth's 1,450 financial advisers.

Commonwealth is the nation's largest privately held independent broker/dealer-RIA and the broker/dealer of choice for True North.

Pittsfield: Visitors Bureau plans online auction

Beginning on June 3, the Berkshire Visitors Bureau will launch its third annual Berkshire Dream Auction, an online auction to raise funds for the Berkshire Marketing Fund.

The Berkshire Visitors Bureau Board of Directors founded the Berkshire Marketing Fund in 2011 to create a new source of revenue to supplement state promotional funds and cooperative marketing dollars raised through its members.

The online auction takes place between June 3 and June 23. Any Berkshire business interested in contributing an auction item or experience to support this initiative will receive marketing exposure via the bureau's 45,000 opt-in email subscribers as well as visitors to and bureau business members.
