N. Adams: Dalton attorney named law partner
Attorney Michael R. Hinkley has been named a new partner in the law firm of Donovan & O'Connor.
A Dalton native, Hinkley began his legal career as part of the asbestos litigation team at Weitz & Luxenberg in New York City. He and his family returned to Berkshire County in 2002.
Hinkley received his law degree from Albany (N.Y.) Law School in 2005, then joined Donovan & O'Connor after passing the bar exam that summer. He developed his practice as a trial lawyer, and works primarily at Donovan & O'Connor's Pittsfield office. His practice has continued to focus on trial law, including serious injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice and general civil litigation.
Hinkley also serves as president of the board of governors of the Dalton Recreation Association, and as president of the board of directors of the Ad-Lib Center for Independent Living.
He belongs to the Berkshire Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. He lives in Dalton with his wife, Maureen, and two children.
Pittsfield: Workforce Training official to speak
Michael Corcoran, state supervisor for the Workforce Training Program, will present an overview of Workforce Training initiatives on Friday.
The session takes place from 9 a.m. to noon in the second floor conference room of the 1Berkshire Building on 66 Allen St.
The Hiring Incentive Training Grant, Express Program and General Program are the programs that will be discussed. The session will feature a step-to-step guide to the application process for the Hiring Incentive Training Grant, which provides $2,000 for companies to hire eligible candidates.
Pittsfield: GE earns high sustainability ranking
General Electric is one of eight members of Associated Industries of Massachusetts that have been named to the "Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations in the World" by Corporate Knights of Toronto.
The corporate giant, which still maintains a presence in Pittsfield, is ranked 51st. Other AIM members with a significant presence in Massachusetts who made the top 100 list are Phillips of Andover (7); Biogen Idec of Cambridge (8); Intel Corporation (14); Cisco Systems (20); Siemens (31); Astra Zeneca (72); and Repsol (84).
