Williamstown: Clark taps advancement officer

Nancy Harvin has been named chief advance ment officer at the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute.

She will lead the Clark’s development team in generating philanthropic support for programmatic activities and annual giving, as well as its capital fundraising and membership programs.

Harvin has more than 25 years of development experience, including her most recent position as vice president for advancement at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from Smith College, and served as the college’s director of principal gifts from 2007-09, and as Smith’s regional campaign director from 1986-89.

She also served as the director of external affairs and leadership gifts at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon from 1989-97.

Pittsfield: Green construction a chamber topic

David Westall of Westall Architects will be the keynote speaker on Wednesday, June 27 at the Berkshire Chamber of Commerce’s second Good New Business Salute of 2012.

The event will run from 7:45 to 9 a.m. at Berkshire Hills Country Club, 500 Benedict Road. Cost is $35 for chamber members, and $35 for non-members. It includes a breakfast buffet. Diana Brooks, principal of Diana Brooks Associates in Williamstown, is the emcee.

Westall’s address will focus on emerging green building techniques. Prior to establishing Westall Architects, he worked as an independent architect for more than 20 years and spent seven years working as assistant director for Architectural Services at Williams College.

Businesses to be honored with "good news" recognition include The Brien Center, Cranwell Resort, Spa and Golf Club, Lee Premium Outlets, MountainOne Financial Partners, and Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital. Pittsfield’s First Fridays ArtsWalk also will receive special recognition.

Gt. Barrington: Chamber plans after-hours event

The Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce will hold a business after-hours event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Comfort Inn & Suites, 249 Stockbridge Road.
