Informative visit for Triad group

Monday June 24, 2013

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

On a fine, cool, crisp morning several weeks ago, a group of seniors boarded the van at the Ralph Froio Senior Center. All aboard, next stop, the Berkshire County Jail and House of Correction.

As part of a senior safety collaboration and continuing effort by District Attorney David Capeless and Berkshire Sheriff Thomas Bowler, the Pittsfield Triad group went on a road trip that day. A total of 35 seniors were treated to a tour of the impressive facility. Following the tour, they viewed a DVD, received a personal welcome from the honorable sheriff and were provided with lunch.

Many thanks to Sheriff Bowler for the hospitality and more importantly for taking the time to be with us that day. Thanks to Captain Newberry and Correctional Officer Grosz for shepherding us through the facility. The day was enjoyed by all and will not soon be forgotten.

The Pittsfield Triad meets the first Tuesday of the month at 9:30 a.m. at the Ralph Froio Senior Center. All are welcome to come and learn about it.

The writer is the Triad contact person for the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.
