Sunday February 10, 2013

SHEFFIELD -- Candidates for superintendent of the Southern Berkshire Regional School District will be interviewed beginning Monday ran running through Thursday. A decision on the next superintendent will be made following the Thursday’s interview

Community stakeholders and members of the public will be able to meet with the candidates from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Eagle’s Loft at Mount Everett Regional School. Then the school committee will meet and interview the candidates for more than an hour beginning at 6 p.m. There will be no public discussion during the School Committee meeting

School Committee Chair Carl Stewart said that a format for how the superintendent will be selected will be determined on Thursday.

The candidates, and their scheduled interview day, are: David Hastings, Southern Berkshire Regional School District’s coordinator of curriculum and professional development (Monday); Dr. Patricia Lally, assistant superintendent of Tewksbury Public School (Tuesday); Patricia Gardner, principal of Turners Fall High School in the Gill-Montague Regional School District (Wednesday); and Dr. Linda Carrier, director of curriculum and instruction at Monson Public Schools (Thursday).

Stewart said district delegations have interviewed the colleagues of the candidates, including teachers and students. Committee members will get their first chance to interview the candidates this week.

The candidates will be interviewed about their vision for the district, why they want to be superintendent, along with other questions prepared by the school committee, Stewart said.
