Job training, skills programs at Goodwill

PITTSFIELD -- Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires is accepting applicants for two innovative job training and skill development programs.

The courses, "Business 101: Sport-On Cleaning", and "Soft Skills Development" will both begin this month.

"Business 101: Spot-On-Cleaning" is a 15-week-long custodial training program that begins on March 10. Enrollment is on a rolling basis, allowing new participants to join throughout the program’s progression. "Spot-On-Cleaning" provides training in the real world of custodial cleaning and includes hand-on cleaning experience at several Pittsfield locations.

"Soft Skills Development" begins on March 14. The six-week program is offered in partnership with Mildred Elley. Classes will be held each Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mildred Elley’s Pittsfield campus at 505 East St. The "Soft Skills" program teaches life skills and helps participants to formulate and achieve career goals.

Goodwill’s tuition-free classes are available to those with barriers to work including the working poor, those with disabilities, those lacking a high school diploma or GED, dislocated individuals and families, ex-offenders, older workers, at-risk youth, non-English speakers and veterans.
