Join discussion on U.S. violence

Tuesday April 30, 2013

Ed Dartford’s Eagle letter of April 24 (Take "evil" out of the gun debate) suggests that we study the matter of guns and find a way to solve the real problems of violence that both sides (pro- and anti-gun) agree on. Berkshire Citizens for Peace and Justice is attempting to do just that.

On Thursday, at 7:30 in the Unitarian Church on the corner of Broad Street and Wendell Avenue. in Pittsfield we will hopefully carry on a fruitful discussion looking at the violence in our county as it relates to guns. We will not debate the Second Amendment as guns are a given in our country at this time. Our focus that night will be on what can be done to make our society safer for all concerned. If we have to revert to some "Quaker silence" to bring us back to the topic, we will do that. Safety and a reduction of violence are common concerns for both gun owners and gun opponents.

This evening is a chance for fruitful listening and good discussion and is free and open to the public.
