Lanesborough: Community walk for suicide prevention

Posted

More than 350 people are expected to participate in the annual Berkshire County Out of the Darkness Community Walk hosted by the Western Massachusetts Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the DCR Ashuwillticook Rail Trail.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Berkshire Mall entrance to the Rail Trail.

This fundraising walk supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's local and national education and advocacy programs and its goal to reduce the annual rate of suicide 20 percent by 2025.

Last year, the Berkshire walk raised over $23,000 and had nearly 300 participants.

Some local sponsors for the Berkshire County walk include the Austen Riggs Center and the Brien Center.

Register to walk or donate today by visiting afsp.org/berkshirecounty or contacting the Wester Mass. AFSP Chapter at 413-387-3770.
