Learn from Ty Jackson, and Danny

Wednesday April 10, 2013

How great to see in The Eagle this morning (April 6) the beginning of a series by Ty Jackson, Pittsfield’s own, and very finest, children’s book author.

The Danny Dollar series is precisely the kind of fun, inspiring reading our young people could find very empowering. In an infectious, imaginative way, Danny thinks up ways to earn money and create jobs for himself, earning money as well as providing needed services for friends and neighbors. There is a great aspect of helping others and sense of community that is woven into this book.

Mr. Jackson’s writing is, in itself, a service to others, encouraging our kids to have an entrepreneurial spirit and being proactive about their own lives. For that matter, it inspires grown-ups as well.

It’s so easy to feel that the world has control of us instead of us taking control in constructive ways of our own future. Danny is a mentor for kids; Ty Jackson is a mentor for our community.
