Lee food drive exceeds hopes

The Kiwanis Club of Lee is writing to thank The Berkshire Eagle for its extraordinarily effective Nov. 15 front page article on the "Stuff the trailer" food drive that we held on Saturday, Nov. 16 here in Lee. As a result, the 48-foot trailer was literally "stuffed" with donated food. Sue Gore of the Lee Food Pantry reported that the total food donated on that day vastly exceeded her expectations, and that the food pantry now has adequate reserves of non-perishable food items to last through the heating season.

Those of us who worked on the food drive experienced an outpouring of community generosity that was truly heartwarming. This is "good news" of the sort that we all need. The Kiwanis Club of Lee also wishes to thank all who contributed to the food drive and in so doing continued making Berkshire County such a wonderful place to live.
