Lee: Housatonic Philharmonic to perform winter concert

Posted

The Housatonic Philharmonic will perform its annual free winter concert from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30, at the Town Hall

The program will include old time Irish and American music played on a variety of old time instruments. The group consists of Paul Rice on fiddle, banjo, and dobro; Tim Gray on hammer dulcimer, pennywhistles, and piano; and Andy Gordon on banjo and spoons.

The band will explain the history and playing techniques of the instruments.

Their music includes old time jigs, reels, hoedowns and waltzes as well as more recent and original tunes with an old-time ambience.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Lee Cultural Council.
