Lee: Household hazardous waste collection slated Saturday


The South Berkshire Household Hazardous Waste Collaborative will hold a collection for its 15 member towns from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 16, at the Lee Waste Water Treatment Plant, 379 Pleasant St.

The collection will be coordinated by the Center for EcoTechnology. Registration is required by Friday, July 15.

Participating towns include Alford, Becket, Egremont, Great Barrington, Lee, Lenox, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, Otis, Richmond, Sheffield, Stockbridge, Tyringham, and West Stockbridge.

Some acceptable items include oil-based paints, solvent adhesives, driveway sealer, flea control products, mercury thermometers, and button and rechargeable batteries.

Goodwill Industries will be accepting electronics. There is a charge for TVs and computer monitors; prices vary based on size. Goodwill is also accepting clean /dry bagged clothing, books, paired shoes, and household items.
