Lee parade was memorable one

To the editor of THE EAGLE:

Our out-of-town guests were in Lee for the Founders Day Parade to see our daughter march in her first parade, a proud moment for us all. We were in for a real treat, the most memorable parade we’ve ever seen!

The Lee high band sounded wonderful, the middle school band was grand, St. Mary’s was sweet! Mt. Everett’s band members caught our attention with their funny antics, and then they lifted their instruments and Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" sounded in our ears. Candy and Frisbees and pencils and bags, stuffed animals and T-shirts were all thrown our way.

Then the fire call came in, the firemen scrambling to the trucks in the blink of an eye. One Lee truck had to leave the route along with the ambulance (hopefully all was OK!). The Latino dancers twirled with the wind, the bagpipers piped, Shriners made perfect figure eights, cars from all decades, and fire trucks galore cruised the street.

Leaders, bankers, proprietors, kids and neighbors marched on this beautiful last day of summer! All of this on Main Street, USA.
