Lenox baseball fends off late Greylock rally
LENOX -- The Lenox baseball team held off a seventh-inning rally to claim a 4-2 victory over Mount Greylock on Wednesday.
With one out in the top of the seventh, Greylock's Ian Brink reached on an error, and Nick Disanti advanced him to second with a single. Jake Benzinger drove in Brink with an RBI double, but Dillon Benham, who entered in relief of starter Patrick Colvin, recorded the final two outs for the save.
The sophomore Colvin pitched 6 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking one.
Benham had a strong all-around game, going 2 for 2 with an RBI double in the first inning, sparking a three-run first. Jake Jourdain and Cam Sibley had RBI singles in the first inning as well.
"We put the ball into play, had timely hitting and made big plays with Greylock in scoring position," Lenox coach Kevin Downer said. "[Colvin pitched] around the plate. Kept them off balance and threw strikes."

Westfield 3, Taconic 1
WESTFIELD -- Solid pitching from Westfield silenced the bats of Taconic.
Westfield pitcher Brent Houle struckout six in six innings of work, and Joe Hesick closed the door for the save.
The Braves cut into Westfield's lead in the top of the sixth, when Alex Carusotto scored on a fielder's choice from Mitch Clary. But Taconic could not finish the comeback.
Joey Dewey pitched five innings, striking out five, but a two-run first inning was just enough for the Bombers. Kevin Squires had two hits for the Braves.
"[Houle] is a big, tall senior who had all three pitches, a fastball, curveball and changeup," Taconic coach Kevin Stannard said. "We couldn't get a big hit when we needed it. ... Excellent effort from the team and we're only going to get better."
