Lenox: BCD students to present original production
Berkshire Country Day School’s Upper School Theatre co-curricular program has launched into another season of creating an original work for the stage.
"Duck and Cover" will be presented at the Winthrop Theatre at 45 West St. at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8.
There will be a suggested donation at the door.
The 11-member ensemble comprised of Grade 7 and 8 BCD students is exploring the question "What are you afraid of?" and has borrowed the title "Duck and Cover" from the 1951 Defense Department film instructing students what to do in the event of an atomic bomb.
The students have created the piece through a series of composition-building exercises, interviews, existing poetry and literature, audio, and visual materials which are woven in a collage-like structure. Students have also developed original music for the project.
