Lenox: Church to celebrate 25th anniversary

The United Methodist Church of Lenox will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 1, with a reception afterwards. Bishop Sudashana Devadhar, leader of the New England United Methodist Conference, will be the guest preacher.

Devadhar’s sermon, "Our Marching Orders," will be based on Matthew 28:16-20. The worship service will include music sung by the Chancel Choir and The Messengers. All are welcome to join the celebration.

While new in church years, the congregation has long had a presence in Berkshire County. The current congregation was formed from the merger of three other churches: First UMC in Lee, Grace UMC in Lenox Dale, and Trinity UMC in Pittsfield.

The congregation decided to look for a new location when the three churches merged during the mid-1980s. The new church building at 6 Holmes Road, just off Route 7, was consecrated on May 7, 1989.
