Lenox: Gravestone restorer to give presentation

The Lenox Historical Society and the Lenox Historical Commission announce a presentation by Kai Nalenz, owner of Gravestone Services of New England, at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Lenox Library.

Nalenz is presently doing extensive restorations at the historic Church on the Hill Cemetery.

His presentation will give a summary of stone types, history, symbols and some interesting observations as a conservator.

As a two part presentation, the second half will be hands-on at the cemetery in the spring. At that time, Nalenz will teach participants how to restore some of the smaller stones themselves. Volunteers will be needed for this part of the program.

Sunday’s presentation is open to the public and all are invited to attend. The second half will be announced at a later date.
