Lenox: Sanctuary program explores bedrock to birds


Berkshire Sanctuaries is sponsoring a day-long program, "Bedrock to Birds in the Berkshires — Pleasant Valley," from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, 472 West Mountain Road.

The program explores the connections between Pleasant Valley's geological features, including bedrock and landform, and habitat characteristics for plants and wildlife. The program will involve hiking off-trail on steep terrain.

The program will be led by Becky Cushing, Berkshire Sanctuaries director, and Tom Lautzenheiser, regional scientist/Central and Western Massachusetts.

Suitable for adults, the cost is $55 for members, $75 for non-members.
