Lenox: United Way to present volunteer awards at community celebration


Berkshire United Way’s Live United Community Celebration will be held from 7:45 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Shakespeare and Company’s Tina Packer Playhouse, 70 Kemble St.

The event will highlight successful youth substance use reduction efforts countywide, provide an update on important youth development work led by Berkshire United Way and recognize corporate and individual volunteers and supporters. All are invited to attend.

Dr. Jennifer Michaels, medical director at the Brien Center and psychiatrist with Berkshire Medical Center, will serve as guest speaker. The cost to attend is $10, with a light Passover-friendly breakfast being provided.

Timed to occur just after National Volunteer Week, a variety of recognition awards will be presented, including the Robert K. Agar Jr. Volunteerism Award to Berkshire Bank.

The Dan Dillon Helping Hands, Caring Heart Award will be presented to Kelly Marion, executive director of the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center.

Mike Taft, from JC Penney, will present Beverly Gans from Taconic High School with the JC Penney Employee Campaign Coordinator award.
