Letter: A great experience from Haflinger Haus

A great experience at Haflinger Haus

To the editor:

I would like to share with your readers the lovely experience I recently enjoyed at the Haflinger Haus. Family-owned and operated, the Haflinger is an Austrian restaurant, tavern, and inn in Adams. The Saturday evening started with a delightful cocktail and two delicious appetizers, and for the entrees, my friend and I both loved the chicken paprika, served over spaetzle. The apple streudel dessert was fabulous!

While the food was wonderful, the best part of the night was the entertainment provided by Roland and Julianne Vonbruell, a father-daughter duo from Austria. Talented musicians (accordion and violin), they played a mix of classics and Austrian folk music and sang their hearts out; Julianne truly sounds like an angel.

At the end of the evening, it was so nice to go upstairs to one of the inn's six charmingly appointed guest rooms. The next morning's continental breakfast offered a good variety and welcome convenience.

If you live in or are visiting the area, you owe it to yourself to try the Haflinger Haus. You're sure to enjoy the warm atmosphere of this gem in the Berkshires.

Fran Donovan, Walpole
