Letter: A loss for county's forest industry
To the editor of THE EAGLE:
The forest industry here in the Berkshires has lost a great man, Peter Borgnis, who had run Lenox Lumber since the untimely passing of his father in 1982. Pete was a leader in sustainable forest practices. I worked for Pete for over a decade -- there were good times and sometimes there weren’t.
As an employer, Pete would always find a way to have his crew work a 40-hour week, even when times were tough. In the forest industry tough times were commonplace. I know Pete adored his family, and good times were always the focus of discussions during lunch breaks.
I’m confident that his right hand man, Paul Scarinzi, and his wife "Moe" will do their best to keep the mill going, I’m certain that would be what he would have wanted. He had several employees who counted on him and I’m sure they miss him as I do. We’ll miss you Pete, for now.
