Letter: A Puccini treat
A Puccini treat
To the editor:
I had the good fortune of attending the new Berkshire Opera Festival's recital featuring female composers of Giacomo Puccini's time. Puccini, famed for "La Boheme" and "Madama Butterfly," which the company will perform at the Colonial Theatre this month, remains a favorite of music lovers, because the score and stories are heartbreakingly beautiful.
I am so grateful to Jonathan Loy, assistant stage director at the Metropolican Opera, and Brian Garman for providing this treasure to the Berkshires. If their production of "Madama Butterfly" is anything like the recital, we're in for a treat.
