Letter: A timely reminder on crosswalk safety

A timely reminder on crosswalk safety

To the editor:

In the early evening on October 19, 2010, on his way home from the Berkshire Atheneum, Ralph Calamari was struck and killed in a crosswalk on West Housatonic Street in Pittsfield.

This is a reminder that pedestrians must be vigilant. Even crosswalks do not provide sufficient protection from drivers who are on their cell phones.

Victoria Singer, Pittsfield
