Letter: Albany area weather preferable to Connecticut Valley
Albany area weather preferable to Co. Valley
To the editor:
I have to wonder if I am the only Charter Spectrum digital cable customer in Berkshire County who is very unhappy with the executive decision made by the cable company regarding what cities/towns are covered for the "Local on the 8's" on the Weather Channel?
Charter provides us with network programming from all four of the channels out of the Albany area and had displayed the forecast and weather conditions from Chatham, Albany, Troy and Pittsfield on the Weather Channel. This made sense because weather almost always travels from west to east so what we saw on the Weather Channel would most likely be the weather that the Berkshires would be coping with in the near future.
Then along comes the company's digital cable and the decision that since we are in Massachusetts we will be watching to see what the weather is like in the Connecticut Valley by displaying weather facts for Springfield, Chicopee and Northampton for us on the Weather Channel. From my experience, the weather in the Connecticut Valley varies greatly from weather up here in the Berkshires, whereas weather in the greater Albany area tends to be similar to ours.
Perhaps an email writing campaign might convince Charter to give us back the Weather Channel coverage we've had for years.
